Method
Prepare the Pancake Mixture
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the milk, egg, and melted butter. Mix well.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Cook the Sausage
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and crumbled. Drain excess fat.
Assemble the Casserole
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a greased baking dish, spread half of the pancake mixture evenly.
- Layer the cooked sausage and half of the cheese over the pancake mixture.
- Pour the remaining pancake mixture over the sausage and top with the remaining cheese.
Bake the Casserole
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Let cool for a few minutes before slicing.
Serve
- Serve warm with maple syrup drizzled on top.
