Method
Prepare the Dough
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt. Mix well.
- In a separate bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, and beaten egg.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Add Filling and Shape Buns
- Once risen, punch down the dough and knead in the grated cheeses and herbs.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and shape each into a bun.
- Place the buns on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, leaving space between them.
- Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake the Buns
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Brush the tops of the buns with a mixture of milk and honey.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
