Ingredients

Scale
  • Olive oil
  • 1 medium white onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 500g ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon tomato puree
  • 80ml apple vinegar
  • 500g tomato passata
  • 240ml beef stock
  • Fresh basil
  • Dried oregano
  • 200g spaghetti
  • 6 crusty white rolls
  • 100g butter
  • 30g parmesan for butter
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 200g mozzarella

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Cook diced onion until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic; sauté for another minute. Brown ground beef thoroughly before mixing in tomato puree.
  2. Add apple vinegar to reduce slightly, then stir in tomato passata and beef stock. Incorporate Worcestershire sauce, herbs, and sugar; simmer gently for about 25 minutes until thickened. Stir in grated parmesan.
  3. Cut tops off rolls and hollow out centers carefully. Mix melted butter with garlic paste, parsley, and parmesan; brush inside and outside of rolls.
  4. Boil salted water; cook spaghetti until al dente (8-10 minutes). Drain and toss with the prepared sauce.
  5. Fill each bread roll with spaghetti mixture and top with shredded mozzarella.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake filled rolls for 8-10 minutes until crispy and cheese is melted.
