  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 3/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 and 1/2 cups salted butter, melted
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons salted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon heavy cream
  • pinch of fine sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13 inch pan with nonstick spray and parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and salt.
  3. Melt butter in a large bowl; mix in remaining crust ingredients until crumbly.
  4. Press two-thirds of the mixture into the prepared pan for the base, layer on the apple filling, and sprinkle the remaining crust over top.
  5. Bake for 38 to 45 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Prepare salted caramel sauce while baking; drizzle over cooled bars before serving.
