  • 1 lb heirloom tomatoes (mixed colors)
  • 1 English cucumber (or 4 Persian cucumbers)
  • 5 scallions (thinly sliced)
  • 1 red chili pepper (optional)
  • ½ cup basil leaves
  • 3 Tbsp Tamari (low sodium)
  • 2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 23 tsp maple syrup
  • Toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Steam the frozen gyoza dumplings according to package instructions. Once cooked, toss them gently with a teaspoon of sesame oil to prevent sticking.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together Tamari, balsamic vinegar, and maple syrup to create the dressing. Pour over the warmed dumplings and toss to coat.
  3. Chop the heirloom tomatoes into wedges and slice the cucumber and scallions thinly. Combine these veggies in a large bowl with the coated dumplings and optional chili pepper.
  4. Tear fresh basil leaves over the salad and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds before serving.
