  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano, divided
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme, divided
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup yellow onion, diced
  • 1 cup sliced carrots
  • 1 cup sliced celery
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 8 cups chicken broth
  • 8 oz. uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz. sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon white balsamic vinegar
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • Fresh cracked pepper to taste
  • 4 sesame seed buns, diced into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Sliced green onion
  • Shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Toss diced sesame seed buns with olive oil and bake for about 10 minutes until crispy.
  2. In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef with oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper (about 5-7 minutes). Set aside.
  3. Sauté onions, carrots, and celery in the same pot with butter for about 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in garlic and remaining herbs for an additional minute.
  5. Add flour and mix well; cook for another minute.
  6. Deglaze with a splash of chicken broth, then add the rest of the broth and macaroni; season with salt and pepper.
  7. Simmer for about 5-7 minutes until macaroni is al dente.
  8. Remove from heat; stir in cream and cheese until melted.
  9. Return ground beef to the pot along with white balsamic vinegar; heat through before serving.
