  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • Ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, water, sugar, and yeast; let it sit until bubbly.
  2. In another bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, and salt; mix in the yeast mixture along with softened butter, eggs, red food coloring, and vanilla extract. Knead until smooth.
  3. Cover dough and let rise in a warm place for about an hour until doubled in size.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle.
  5. Spread softened butter over the dough and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  6. Roll tightly into a log shape and slice into equal pieces (about 12 rolls).
  7. Place rolls in a greased baking dish; cover and let rise while preheating oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. While warm, top with cream cheese frosting made by mixing softened cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.
