  • 10 cups cubed sourdough or French bread
  • 1 large onion, finely diced
  • 2 cups celery, finely chopped (about 34 stalks)
  • 2 tbsp fresh sage, chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 4 cups low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cube the bread and spread it on a baking sheet. Dry in the oven for about 15 minutes.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the onion and celery; sauté until soft (5-7 minutes).
  3. In a large bowl, combine dried bread cubes with sautéed vegetables and herbs. Gradually pour in broth until moist but not soggy. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Transfer to a greased baking dish, cover with foil, and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil for the last few minutes to crisp up the top.
