  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chocolate chunks
  • 11 oz soft caramels or caramel bits
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream softened butter with granulated and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
  5. Gradually combine dry ingredients until just mixed.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips and chunks.
  7. Press two-thirds of the dough into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  8. Melt caramels with heavy cream until smooth; pour over the dough base.
  9. Drop spoonfuls of remaining dough over the caramel layer.
  10. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Cool completely before slicing into squares.
