  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 chicken hamburger buns, torn into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup dill pickles, chopped
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 8 slices American cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Add diced onion and minced garlic; cook until softened. Mix in Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. In another bowl, combine torn hamburger buns with melted butter and sesame seeds.
  3. Whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, mustard, white vinegar, sugar, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder for the special sauce.
  4. In a baking dish, layer half of the bun mixture, then half of the beef mixture followed by half of the special sauce and one cup of cheddar cheese. Repeat layers.
  5. Top with American cheese slices and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving topped with shredded lettuce and chopped pickles.
