Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 thick-cut slices of brioche bread
  • 1 ¾ lb apples (about 5), peeled and diced
  • 4 tbsp salted butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup milk (of choice)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease your baking pan.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter and combine with flour and apple pie spice. Add brown sugar, diced apples, and water; cook until apples are soft.
  3. Strain the apple mixture to save juices.
  4. In another saucepan, whisk together milk, cream, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt over medium-low heat until combined. Remove from heat and whisk in eggs one at a time.
  5. Cut brioche into cubes, layer in the pan with apple filling, then pour custard over the top.
  6. Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden brown. Let it sit for about ten minutes before serving.
